ON THE WAY TO DRENTHE
MARIANNA IN THE TRAIN
THERE IS MY TRAIN
NIJMEGEN HOUSES
VIEWS ON THE WAY TO ZWOLLE
Barger-Compascuum, Drenthe. 21/06/08. The longest day, sunset at 10.15 pm.

Elly and Hans took me to the train station in Nijmegen and I went on the train to Zwolle.( yes I was meant to)
There I had to change the train to Emmen.
I already knew which platform to take and there were lifts for the suitcase.
So it was relatively easy to change trains.
Then it was an other hour and then I was in Emmen.
The scenery was really lovely on the way, we went past forests and rivers and lots of farms and crops( mainly wheat, maize and spuds.)
Caroline and Jan were waiting for me at the station when I arrived. I always think its wonderful to have that person waiting for you when you arrive in a totally new area.
The village they live in is called" Barger-Compascuum", and has 3000 inhabitants.
They are only 2 1/2 km's from the German border so we can even bike there on the bicycles .
They took me to a pancake house and I had one " savoury" pancake.
Then we went to a neighbourhood tent where everyone was together to watch the soccer match between Netherlands and Russia. I was wearing my orange t-shirt.
Netherlands lost to Russia, very exciting game but sad for the netherlands, Russia won with 3-1.
So thats why I am writing this late and now i am going to bed, as tomorrow they have something in store for me.
Groetjes van Marianna.

Hoi Marianne
