Drenthe, 23rd.
Today Jan and Carolien had some trips planned for today.
I didn't really know what but thats exciting.
First we went to a DOC conservation information centre in the middle of a forest.
There we could go for a walk but the walk was different.
it was similar to the walk we did at Maungatapatiri with the viewing platform that looked down on the trees.
This was had a boardwalk that went around high to the top of the trees.
So you walked " high" and saw the toop of the trees.
It went to a highest platform, and then we went down again. It has lots of information on the way.
Then we walked through the forest on a normal track. We walked along little lakes and heather fields.
After that we had some coffee at the information centre and then Jan and Caroline took me to an other place called: Westenbork"
This is the only concentration camp in the Netherlands that was used as a holding centre for rouded up Jews and from here every Tuesday, the cattle train would come and push in as many people as they could to go to the death camps like Auswich and others.
First we went to the memorial museum and then to the actual site of that concentration camp.
After we saw that I had to remember my Dad's story" captured and set free" and realise what a miracle my Dad had eperienced, and I started to cry.
I told Caroline my Dad's story and others around us heard it too.
I also realised that because my dad was set free, I am also able to be here now.
So you are a miracle too, a lady said. That really touched me.
After this we went to visit the oldest graves in the country, the " Hunebedden".
They are graves 5000 years old from the Germanic tribes.

Hoi Marianne
hallo marianne...I just wanna say LOVELY... I love your journey
