The same day I saw Rotterdam, Mirjam and Jeroen also showed me Kinderdijk.
This is the name of a village, or area wich is now an UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
There are lots of windmills. One of them is a show home( they are homes and people live in them)
The windmills were used for draining the water , some for grinding wheat for breweries.

After we saw the windmills, Jeroen and Mirjam took me to their favourite restaurant ,we had to go on the ferry to cross the river to their place, Capelle aan de Ijssel.

Thursday 3rd of July,

Mirjam and Jeroen ( sister and brother-in-law of Ingrid) had emailed me to suggest we meet and they wanted to show me around the city of Rotterdam and Kinderdijk.
I went by train to Rotterdam Blaak, at 9.30 am. I arrived in Rotterdam at 10.18 am. They were there to meet me. I had seen photo of Mirjam and she had seen photos of me so it was easy to recognise me.
When we had met we walked to the cubik homes..( see picture) these homes are of modern architecture and people have bought them. One is a show home. ( see picture)
We had a coffee by the water and enjoyed meeting each other and sharing stuff about our lives and families.( and horses of course).
From there we went into the metro and to an other place and walked over the Erasmus bridge and on the other side was the boat to take us for an trip around the harbour. The boattrip was 1 1/2 long.
After we enjoyed the trip, seeing sthe biggest harbour in the world and the biggest container area in the world, we then went back to the metro to an other area where they had parked the car.
Then we drove to Kinderdijk, where there are lotss and lot of windmills. This is a UNESCO WORLD HERTITAGE SITE.
